The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and his Kandara counterpart Alice Wahome over chaos that erupted at Kenol town in Murang’a county on Sunday, October 4.
The summon came barely hours after the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai ordered hisofficers to arrest the two lawmakers for allegedly sponsoring the ugly confrontations that left two people dead and several others nursing injuries.
n a statement shared on its official Twitter handle on Monday, October 5, the DCI directed Nyoro and Wahome to appear before its Nyeri regional offices to give an account of what transpired on Sunday.
A section of locals claimed goons were ferried in five buses from Nairobi and Thika to cause mayhem ahead of the DP’s visit.
Teargas, running battles and bonfire were witnessed for the better part of Sunday morning resulting in loss of two lives and scores of injuries
Nyoro and Wahome who spoke after the church service claimed the altercation was sponsored by anti-Ruto leaders in Mt Kenya region.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria specifically mentioned Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Chege as the sponsor of the skirmishes
Chege, however, dismissed the accusations alleging the chaotic scenes could have been stage-managed by the DP’s allies in order to gain sympathy from the public.
“I hear several people mentioned my name, you are bringing visitors to insult leaders in Muranga, there were only two leaders from Muranga at that event, they probably state-managed it,” she said.
